Gardens & Waterfall Tour

Take a self-guided stroll through The Umauma Experience's tropical gardens and enjoy a spectacular view of the famous triple-tiered Umauma Falls. This easy, go-at-your-own-pace tour takes 20 to 45 minutes and requires only light walking along paved garden paths and a river walk.

Wander through gardens filled with tropical plants and flowers, explore the river walk, and take in the stunning vistas of the falls and surrounding Hamakua Coast landscape. Stop by the Visitor Center to pick up a garden map or grab a snack before or after your tour.

The gardens and falls are open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a paved road leading directly from the visitor center to the falls and gardens. Sunblock and bug repellent are recommended. This is a great low-key option for visitors of all ages and fitness levels.

Located at 31-313 Old Mamalahoa Highway in Hakalau, about 15 minutes north of Hilo. Tours often sell out — advance booking is recommended.
