Honokaʻa is a small town on the Hāmākua Coast, north of Hilo, and the gateway to Waipiʻo Valley. Its main street has the historic Honokaʻa People's Theatre, local shops, an antique store and places to eat. Sugar cane once covered this coast, and small farms now grow taro, hearts of palm, vegetables and fruit.
