Self-Guided Garden Tour Day Pass

Botanical World Adventures in Hakalau offers a self-guided day pass to explore its gardens, trails, and waterfalls. Visitors can race through a maze or walk gently rolling arboretum paths. Paid guests also have access to the Walking Stick self-guided audio tour, in which a garden director explains the plants and features of the Rainbow Garden and surrounding areas.

The groomed lower gardens give way to a rain forest trail that starts as a mild hike and grows more challenging as it continues. The trail leads to Kamaee Falls, and along the way visitors may spot climbing fish making their way upstream. These fish are among the endemic species found natively in Hawaii and are harvested for transplant to help restock other streams across the islands.

The property also includes open views of Mauna Kea, the Pacific Ocean, and surrounding pasture land, as well as sections fully enclosed by rain forest canopy. The tour meets in Hakalau and hotel pickup is not provided. The difficulty level is rated moderate, so visitors should plan accordingly before arriving.
