About this tour
Private Waterfall and River Swim takes place at a private section of Umauma Falls on the Big Island, where guests swim in the river and kayak on its surface. The experience begins at the Visitor Center on Old Mamalahoa Highway in Hakalau, and kayaks are provided. After time in the water, a catered lunch is served at a private pavilion adjacent to the falls, with the meal delivered by a utility zipline that runs to the site.
The listing highlights this trip as a good fit for couples, and calls it a romantic outing that combines a private river swim with a picnic-style lunch. The setting is lush tropical scenery right alongside the waterfall, and the pavilion is close enough that guests can enjoy the surroundings while they eat.
Guests should arrive early to allow time to check in before the tour departs from the Visitor Center. Tours may be canceled in cases of thunder, lightning, or strong winds, so weather conditions can affect whether the experience runs on a given day.
