About this tour
The Northern Gems Tour picks travelers up directly from their hotel or accommodation and covers the northern half of the Big Island in a private van. Stops along the way include the Waipio Valley lookout, a tropical fruit stand, Akaka Falls, Rainbow Falls, a black sand beach, and historic Hilo town, with time to eat fresh local food as the day unfolds. The itinerary is fully flexible, so the group can spend more or less time at any location based on their interests and energy. Optional add-ons, such as a visit to the Hawaiian Vanilla Company or a botanical garden and reserve, can be arranged for an extra cost paid separately on the day.
Transportation to and from the accommodation is included, along with cold drinks, a snack basket, raincoats, umbrellas, and entry to Akaka Falls. A knowledgeable tour guide accompanies the group throughout. The tour is rated easy and is accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. The tour runs rain or shine, though the operator may cancel under extreme weather conditions.
