About this tour
The Twilight Volcano and Stargazing Tour picks up guests at hotels and resorts in the Keauhou, Kona, Waikoloa, and Kohala areas, so no drive to a separate meeting point is needed. The route includes a Kona coffee farm where a guide explains harvesting and guests can try a fresh cup, then passes scenic views of Kealakekua Bay and South Point before reaching Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach, home to Hawaii's green sea turtles. From there, the tour enters Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, with stops along Chain of Craters Road, at steam vents, Thurston Lava Tube, and the Kīlauea Iki and Halemaʻumaʻu Craters. A local guide shares knowledge of the island's geology, history, and culture throughout. A picnic lunch, dinner, juices, snacks, water, park fees, jackets, and rain gear are all included. Guests should be able to walk short to moderate distances on uneven terrain, and conditions can be cool, wet, or muddy.
