No previous experience is required for this scuba diving experience. It is specifically designed for beginners, and you will be guided by a Master Scuba Diving Trainer throughout both dives. The small group format - with a 2:1 student-to-instructor ratio - ensures you receive close, personalized attention the entire time. The experience takes place on a 46-foot custom-built dive boat and includes two separate dives at the same healthy coral reefs visited by certified divers. There is no limit on bottom time, so you can explore at a comfortable pace. All skill levels are welcome as long as you meet the health and age requirements.

Yes, there are health requirements you must meet before participating in this scuba diving experience. You must be in good general health with no heart conditions, and you are required to complete medical forms before diving. If any medical conditions are noted on those forms, a doctor's approval is required before you can participate. Waivers must also be signed in advance, and you must complete an eLearning module before your dive day. These requirements apply to all participants aged 18 and older. Arriving at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time is also required to allow time for check-in.

You can cancel this scuba diving experience up to 7 days in advance and receive a full refund. Full payment is due at the time of booking, and cancellations made within 7 days of the trip are not eligible for a refund. Kona Honu Divers enforces this policy because they specialize in small groups and do not overbook their courses. Lateness also carries a strict policy - guests who are more than 15 minutes late or who do not show up will not receive a refund. The boat departs 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, so arriving early is important. Morning traffic heading north into Kailua-Kona can be slow, especially if you are staying south of the harbor.

You should bring a reusable water bottle and sun-protective clothing to the Discover Scuba Diving Experience. Only reef-safe sunscreen is permitted - toxic sunscreen is not allowed on this tour. All SCUBA gear is provided, so you do not need to bring any diving equipment. Transportation to the meeting point at Kona Honu Divers Boat Slip is not included, so you will need to arrange your own way to 352-429 Kealakehe Pkwy in Kailua-Kona. If Kona Honu Divers cancels the Discover Scuba Diving Experience, you will receive a full refund or the option to reschedule based on availability. The operator reserves the right to cancel for reasons including weather, ocean conditions, mechanical issues, or safety concerns for guests and crew.
