Discover Scuba Diving

Take your first breath underwater with this 4-hour Discover Scuba Diving experience in Hilo — no certification needed. This introductory program is designed for complete beginners who want to find out if scuba diving is right for them, with professional instruction every step of the way.

The experience is broken into three sections. First, you'll complete paperwork, get fitted with gear, and watch a Discover SCUBA Diving presentation. Next, you'll spend 45 minutes to an hour in a pool training session to practice basic skills in a controlled environment. Finally, you'll head to the ocean for your first real scuba dive in Hilo's crystal-clear waters, where you may encounter sea turtles, colorful reef fish, and vibrant coral formations.

Upon completion, you'll receive a Discover SCUBA Diving Certificate, which allows you to dive under direct supervision of a SCUBA professional and serves as a credit toward the Open Water Diver Certification for 14 days.

Important: This is not a certification course. After completing this program, you will not be allowed to scuba dive without a SCUBA professional present. PADI medical forms must be completed before your session — arriving without completed paperwork will result in a $50 rescheduling fee.

Ages 10 and up. Participants must be able to swim unassisted in water too deep to stand. All gear is provided. Cancellation with full refund available up to 48 hours in advance.
