About this tour
Paddle a traditional Hawaiian outrigger canoe along the Kohala Coast on this family-friendly 1-hour adventure with Hulakai. Meet at ʻAnaehoʻomalu Bay Canoe Club (next to Lava Lava Beach Club in Waikoloa) where your lifeguard-certified steersman teaches proper paddling technique and gets the crew in sync before heading out toward a black sand beach.
This is canoe paddling the way Hawaiians have done it for generations - no motors, just you and the waʻa (canoe). The pace is yours to set, whether you prefer a leisurely paddle or a more vigorous workout. No prior experience is needed, and the activity is suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers. Your local expert guide shares the tradition and culture of Hawaiian canoe paddling, one of the most popular sports in the islands from keiki to kūpuna.
All canoeing gear is provided. Bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a water bottle for comfort on the water. Available Monday through Thursday with a minimum of 2 participants. Ages 10 and up. 24-hour cancellation policy for a full refund.
