No flying experience is required for this intro flight lesson at Kona Airport. The lesson is specifically designed for first-time flyers, and you will be paired with an FAA-certified flight instructor who walks you through everything from the ground briefing to handling the controls in the air. Before takeoff, you will receive a pre-flight safety briefing and ground instruction. Once airborne, your instructor guides you step by step and can take over the controls at any point. You decide how hands-on you want to be, so there is no pressure to fly more than you are comfortable with.

The maximum passenger weight for this gyroplane flight lesson is 242 lbs (110 kg). Guests who are taller than 6'4" (193 cm) are asked to contact Fly Gyros Hawaii in advance so the team can confirm that cockpit fit will be comfortable before the booking is finalized. Participants must also be able to enter and exit the aircraft with minimal assistance. The flight is not recommended for individuals with severe mobility impairments.

You should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes to this gyroplane flight lesson, and a light jacket or long sleeve shirt is recommended, especially if you choose the open-cockpit model. Sunglasses are also on the packing list provided by Fly Gyros Hawaii. You will also need to bring a valid ID. Loose items such as phones or personal cameras are not permitted in the aircraft for safety reasons, but the operator offers a professional HD video package as an optional upgrade you can add during checkout if you want footage of your flight.

The enclosed model provides a more sheltered experience while still offering views of the Kona coastline, lava fields, and the Pacific Ocean. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the reservation, as well as no-shows, are non-refundable. If Fly Gyros Hawaii determines that weather conditions are unsafe for flying on your scheduled day, you will have the option to either reschedule your flight or receive a full refund.
