About this tour
Experience the thrill of flying a gyroplane on this 30-minute introductory flight lesson departing from Kona International Airport. No prior flying experience is needed - after a quick ground briefing, you'll climb into the cockpit with an FAA-certified instructor and take off along the Kona coastline for a hands-on lesson with sweeping views of lava fields and the Pacific Ocean.
With dual controls for safety, you'll have the opportunity to take the controls and fly the aircraft yourself - as much or as little as you're comfortable with. Choose between an open-cockpit tandem gyroplane for a raw aviation experience or an enclosed side-by-side model for added comfort. This isn't a passive scenic flight - you're actively learning to fly one of aviation's most unique and stable aircraft.
All flight time is loggable toward a Sport Pilot Gyroplane rating, and you'll receive a signed certificate and logbook entry after your lesson. Participants must be at least eight years old (under 18 requires a guardian present) and weigh no more than 242 pounds. Guests over 6'4" should contact the operator in advance. A 48-hour cancellation policy applies, and an optional HD video package is available at checkout.
