60-minute Gyroplane Flight Lesson

Before takeoff, the instructor walks through a pre-flight briefing, and every student wears a headset to stay in communication throughout the flight. The lesson begins on the ground at the general aviation parking area at Kona International Airport, where no transportation to the airport is provided. After landing, the instructor reviews the flight with the student. Each participant receives a certificate and a logbook entry, and the flight time counts toward a Sport Pilot Gyroplane rating for those pursuing one. A government-issued ID and a signed waiver are required before flying. A light jacket and sunglasses are recommended.
Two 30-Minute Gyroplane Flight Lessons
Each participant flies separately with an FAA-certified instructor, taking the controls of a dual-control gyroplane over the Kona coastline. No prior flying experience is needed. Before each flight, the instructor leads a safety briefing and ground introduction to the controls. After landing, the instructor reviews the flight and each participant receives a signed flight certificate with logged flight time. Helmets and headsets are sanitized and provided. This package suits couples, friends, or anyone who wants to share a hands-on flying experience. Check-in takes place at the general aviation area of the airport, and a government-issued photo ID is required for all participants. Participants should bring sunscreen and a light jacket, as conditions can be breezy in the air. Transportation to and from the airport is not included, and video recording is available as an optional add-on at checkout.
30-Minute Intro Flight Lesson
No prior flying experience is required. Once airborne, participants fly along the Kona Coast under the guidance of an FAA-certified flight instructor using dual controls, so the instructor can step in at any point. Guests choose between an open cockpit and an enclosed side-by-side model depending on personal comfort. At the end of the flight, participants receive a signed certificate with logged flight time. Sunglasses, a light jacket, closed-toe shoes, and a valid ID are recommended. Children under a certain age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, and participants must be able to enter and exit the aircraft with minimal assistance. Those over a certain height are encouraged to contact Fly Gyros Hawaii in advance to confirm cockpit fit. Transportation to and from the airport is not included.
