About this tour
The Dip in the Waterfall Adventure starts at the Botanical World Adventures basecamp in Hakalau on the Big Island, where guides lead a short walk through the upper gardens to the Hanapueo waterfall. A staircase descends into the gorge and leads back out again. Guests dip in the refreshing water at the base of the falls, and a bow bridge is available to enjoy during the visit. Guides share stories about the region and its history along the way.
The hike involves a steep staircase and is considered moderate exertion, so guests should be comfortable with that level of activity. Closed-toed shoes are required, and water shoes or Crocs are recommended. Bringing a towel and a change of clothes is also recommended, as neither is provided, though water shoe rentals may be available on site. Reef-safe sunscreen and bug repellent are requested. Water and seasonal fruit from nearby trees are included, along with digital photos of the visit.
