Fissure 8 Lava Flow Tour – Ahu‘Ailā‘au - Hilo Discovery and Volcanoes National Park Explorer

Walk across the surreal lava fields created by Kīlauea's 2018 eruption on this guided tour to Fissure 8 (Ahu'Ailā'au), the most powerful vent of the Lower Puna event that destroyed over 500 homes and reshaped the landscape. Your guide is a local Leilani Estates resident with direct access to the fissure site, offering firsthand perspective on the eruption's geological, cultural, and personal impact.

The 7–8 hour tour includes a moderate hike to the Fissure 8 cone summit overlooking the hardened lava river, plus steam vents, a massive tree mold, and remnants of the community that once stood here. The tour also includes Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park (Kilauea Visitor Center, Halema'uma'u Crater, Thurston Lava Tube) and a Hilo Discovery loop with Rainbow Falls and Queen Lili'uokalani Gardens.
