About this tour
Hotel pickup is available from resorts and hotels in Keauhou, Kona, Waikoloa, and the Kohala area.
The waterfall day takes in the Waipio Valley lookout, a walk through rainforest to Akaka Falls, the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, and a swim at Kulaniapia waterfall. The volcano day visits a Kona coffee farm, Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, with stops at the active crater lookout, Thurston Lava Tube, and a lava lake view after dark, followed by stargazing near Saddle Road. A guide provides commentary on island history, culture, and geology throughout both days.
Included are a picnic lunch, a restaurant dinner on the volcano day, all park entrance fees, and jackets and rain gear. Guests should bring swimwear, towels, sunscreen, a camera, and sturdy footwear. The terrain is rated moderate, so guests need to walk short to moderate distances on uneven ground. Lava viewing and stargazing depend on conditions.
