1-Tank Pelagic Black Water Night Dive

Hang suspended in the blackness of the open Pacific Ocean on this extraordinary pelagic black water night dive with Kona Ocean Adventures — an experience only a handful of divers ever get to have. Starting 2–3 miles offshore, you'll float tethered in the deep, dark sea at around 50 feet depth as underwater lights attract microscopic zooplankton, which in turn draw miniature open-ocean predators like jellyfish and squid into view.

This is an advanced dive for confident, self-reliant divers with excellent buoyancy skills. Requirements are strict: you must have at least 50 logged dives, have been diving within the last 6 months, be in good health with no heart conditions, and be able to communicate in English (or request a dive translator for an additional fee).

Available Sundays and Wednesdays, departing at 8:15 PM from Honokohau Small Boat Harbor. The 2.5-hour experience includes one tank. A minimum of 4 guests is required for the dive to operate. Private charter start times can be adjusted upon request. Cancellation requires 48 hours' notice (72 hours for private charters). Optional tour insurance allows cancellation up to 12 hours before departure.
