About this tour
This private tour picks up from the Port of Hilo or nearby hotels and heads directly to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where a National Park Certified Interpretive Guide leads the group through volcanic landscapes. Possible stops include Kilauea Overlook, Halema'uma'u Crater, steaming vents, lava formations, and Nahuku Lava Tube, with the route adjusted based on volcanic activity and weather conditions. The itinerary can also extend to Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, Rainbow Falls, or the Hilo Farmers Market, depending on group interests.
The tour travels in a private, air-conditioned Mercedes Sprinter van, and the pace is shaped around the group rather than a fixed schedule. Walking distances adjust to suit the party, and extra restroom stops or photo breaks can be worked in as needed. Families with children and those who prefer an easier walk will find the flexible format accommodating. Included gear such as trekking poles, binoculars, ponchos, and sunscreen means less to pack. Snacks and bottled water are provided, while lunch is a separate expense with options near the park or in Hilo.
