About this tour
This guided e-bike tour moves through Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, covering crater rims, rainforests, and ancient lava fields on pedal-assisted Specialized e-bikes. Riders pass steam vents, lava tubes, and the Kīlauea Caldera while a professional guide shares cultural stories of Pele and explains the native ecosystems along the route.
The tour meets at the park Visitor's Center, or at the Hilo Pier for cruise ship passengers. Included with the tour are the e-bike, a MIPS helmet, rain gear, ride snacks, and a Big Island Bike Tours water bottle. Groups meeting the size threshold also have a follow vehicle along the route.
Riders should bring closed-toed shoes and cold weather gear. The route runs on open roads shared with cars, buses, and pedestrians, and includes occasional gravel sections, so comfort riding in traffic is necessary. Riders must know how to ride a bicycle.
