Kona Barbeque

Fire up the grill yourself at Big Island Abalone's oceanside farm property on Makako Bay Drive. This 1.5-hour DIY barbecue experience provides everything you need - premium locally sourced ingredients, house-made seasonings and sauces, and all the cookware and utensils - so all you bring is your appetite.

The spread features locally raised beef and chicken alongside the farm's specialty seafood: fresh Kona abalone, shrimp, oysters, and lobster. A BBQ server delivers your ingredients with cooking guidelines so even first-timers can grill with confidence. When you're done eating, just walk away - the staff handles all the cleanup.

Groups of up to six can book together (larger parties can inquire about accommodations). Drinks are available for purchase at the office or food truck on the property. This experience pairs naturally with a farm tour if you want to see where the abalone is raised before grilling it. All ages are welcome, and the setup is casual and family-friendly. Arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time to register at the office.
