Whale Watch and Sunset Cruise
The trip then moves into a sunset cruise with snacks and beverages before returning to the harbor. Check-in takes place at the Kohala Divers shop, where the crew provides boarding instructions. The boat features multiple seating and viewing areas across several decks, giving guests room to move around and follow the action. A marine naturalist crew is on board throughout, and a hydrophone may be used to pick up underwater sounds when conditions allow. Complimentary snacks and beverages are included, and guests are welcome to bring their own drinks as well. An optional shuttle is available from Kohala Coast and Waikoloa resorts. Enriched Air "Nitrox" Course
The Enriched Air "Nitrox" Course from Kohala Divers is a PADI certification program that teaches divers how to use oxygen-enriched air tanks instead of standard air. First, after booking, a link arrives to complete PADI eLearning independently, at whatever pace works. Then a final in-person session with an instructor covers how to analyze a tank, fill out an enriched air log, and set a dive computer for nitrox. Getting certified for enriched air offers practical advantages on future dives, including longer allowable bottom times, more flexibility with dive profiles and surface intervals, and reduced nitrogen consumption. Some divers also report feeling less fatigued after dives on nitrox.
