Coffee Cupping Workshop
Coffee cupping is the standardized method that producers, roasters, and Q-graders use to evaluate coffee for flavor, quality, and potential. Hala Tree brings that same hands-on process to everyday coffee drinkers in a guided workshop held in Captain Cook on the Big Island. During the session, a guide walks participants through smelling and tasting freshly brewed coffees side by side. The focus is on noticing flavor notes and comparing different species, roast levels, and processing styles to understand how each factor shapes what ends up in the cup. The format is designed to help participants identify personal preferences, eliminate what they do not enjoy, and develop the tools to recognize what they like most in a cup. By the end of the workshop, participants come away with a clearer sense of their own palate and enough understanding to choose beans with confidence going forward. It meets at the Mamalahoa Highway address in Captain Cook and includes all coffee tastings.
