Yes, each passenger on the Private Kona Coast Experience must weigh 275 pounds or under. If a passenger arrives over this limit, Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours will not be able to accommodate the flight, and the passenger will be responsible for the full cost of the tour. There is also a total party weight limit to be aware of. If the combined weight of all passengers exceeds 700 pounds, the tour is subject to cancellation and the full cost is kept. The one exception applies only to the Big Island Experience tour, where a party weighing between 700 and 750 pounds may add a $200 refueling fee to proceed.

Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your scheduled flight will be charged the full price of the tour. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice but choose to rebook for another day, a $100 service charge will apply instead of the full cancellation fee. It is also important to note that the online booking fee is non-refundable regardless of when you cancel. If you miss your flight due to a late check-in, a $100 fee applies if you are able to reschedule. Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours also reserves the right to refuse service.

The tour policies also state that passengers who fail to show up 40 minutes prior to flight time will be billed the full price of the tour. The Private Kona Coast Experience covers stretches of the Kona Coast in both directions from the departure point. Heading north, the flight passes over beaches including the multi-award-winning Manini'owali Beach, also known as Kua Bay. Heading south, the tour reaches as far as Captain Cook. Captain Cook is a small town of roughly 3,400 residents that is often overlooked compared to more resort-heavy areas along the Kona Coast. The area carries significant Hawaiian history, making the southbound portion of this tour a look at a less commonly visited side of Hawaii Island.
