Whale Watch Adventure

Experience humpback whales up close on this 2.5-hour whale watching adventure with Kona Ocean Adventures. Running from December through April, the tour takes you into the waters off the Kona Coast where humpback whales return each year from their feeding grounds in southeastern Alaska to give birth, breed, and nurse their young in Hawaiʻi's warm 75-degree waters.

What sets this tour apart is the use of hydrophones on board, allowing you to hear the whales' haunting songs beneath the surface as you watch them breach, tail-slap, and interact with their calves above. The knowledgeable crew shares fascinating facts and local knowledge about these gentle giants — including details about the longest known mammalian migration.

Departs from Honokohau Marina in Kailua-Kona. A minimum of 4 guests is required for the tour to operate — if the minimum isn't met, you'll be rescheduled or offered a full refund. Cancellation requires 48 hours' notice for groups of 6 or fewer, or 72 hours for groups of 7 or more. Optional tour insurance allows cancellation up to 12 hours before departure.
