Pelagic Whale Watch

Pelagic Whale Watch departs from the south central side of Honokohau Harbor and heads into both near-shore and pelagic ocean zones off the Kona coast. Humpback whales are the main focus, and the trip also searches for beaked whales, false killer whales, melon-headed whales, pilot whales, and sperm whales. Near-shore areas can bring spinner dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, flying fish, and surface-feeding mantas into view as well. A professional naturalist is on board throughout, and cold beverages are included.

The boats, Artemis and Callisto, have comfortable seats, onboard bathrooms, dry storage, and open viewing areas. Captains and guides spend their time actively searching for marine life across the full route. No hotel pickup is available, so plan for your own transportation to the harbor. Late arrivals are not eligible for refunds, so allow extra travel time before boarding.
