2-tank Manta Ray Night Charter
Both dives on this charter take place at Makako Bay, also called Garden Eel Cove, on the Big Island. The first dive happens in the late afternoon, when guides point out marine life around the cove, including Hawaiian Garden Eels, and place bright lights on the bottom to draw plankton. During the surface interval, guides walk divers through manta ray behavior and brief them for what comes next. If no rays appear, guides lead an exploratory night reef dive instead. The charter is rated moderate in difficulty and requires an Open Water scuba certification. Air tanks, dive weights, dive lights, defog, and complementary masks, snorkels, and full-foot fins are included. Snacks and hot and cold beverages are served between dives, and the boat has a hot freshwater shower for rinsing off afterward. Rental gear, including wetsuits and BCDs, is available separately.
