A three-tier waterfall on Onomea Stream inside Hawaiʻi Tropical Botanical Garden in Papaikou.

Onomea Falls is a three-tier waterfall on Onomea Stream inside Hawaiʻi Tropical Botanical Garden, a private non-profit garden on Old Mamalahoa Highway (the Scenic Route) in Papaikou. The stream flows on to Onomea Bay, and the falls sit among palms and ferns with moss on the rocks and trees around them. To get there, turn makai off the highway onto Kulaimano Road, then right onto Old Mamalahoa Road; the Visitor Center is on the right. The garden charges admission. The boardwalk into the garden is steep and can get slippery, and wheelchairs, walkers, scooters and crutches are not permitted. Pets and drones are not allowed.
