About This Experience

Snorkelers only — this later-departure manta ray charter offers the same incredible manta encounters as the sunset charter, with one key advantage: fewer people in the water. You won't catch the sunset from the boat, but your chances of seeing mantas are exactly the same.

Float at the surface while underwater lights attract plankton, drawing in Kona's resident manta rays to feed just below you. In-water guides help locate the mantas and ensure everyone's safety and comfort. These gentle giants — with wingspans up to 18 feet — have no teeth or stingers and are completely harmless.

Mask, wetsuit, and fins are provided. All participants must be confident swimmers without a life jacket and have previous snorkeling experience. Light snacks, filtered water, and hot chocolate are included. Ages 10 and older.

The 3-hour charter departs around 9:00 PM. Check in at the Big Island Divers shop, then drive to Honokōhau Harbor (about 3 miles). Manta sightings are not guaranteed as they are wild creatures, but Kona's manta population is among the most reliable in the world.
