Manta Mania: Explore Manta Heaven from Honokohau Harbor
This night snorkeling tour departs from Honokohau Harbor in Kailua-Kona and travels by boat to Manta Heaven, also known as Garden Eel Cove, where wild manta rays come to feed on plankton. In the water, snorkelers hold onto a lightboard that attracts plankton and draws the rays close while a professional guide leads the group and shares information about manta ray biology and marine conservation. Early departures offer a sunset entry into the water, while later departures suit snorkelers who are comfortable going in after dark. All snorkel gear, including mask, fins, and wetsuit, is provided. Non-alcoholic drinks and snacks are served on the return to the harbor. A GoPro camera rental is available as an add-on for an extra cost. Swimmers must be able to snorkel without a flotation device and climb a short ladder back onto the boat. The tour is not suitable for pregnant guests or those with certain medical conditions. Arrive at the harbor pavilion near the restrooms before departure, and bring a swimsuit, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and a warm layer for after the swim.
