'Imiloa Astronomy Center

ʻImiloa Astronomy Center is a planetarium and exhibit hall of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, in the university's Science and Technology Park above the Hilo campus. Its exhibits link Polynesian navigation and knowledge of the night sky with the growth of astronomy on Hawaiʻi Island, and they show how astronomers on Maunakea study the universe. ʻImiloa means to seek far, and it is the Hawaiian word for both explore and explorer. A ticket covers a full day in the exhibit hall and the planetarium, and tickets are non-refundable. The center is open Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays.
