Your journey begins with a required 5:00 AM arrival at Honolulu International Airport (HNL), where you'll check in on your own at the Hawaiian Airlines self-service kiosk or ticket counter for both flight segments. The 6:15 AM departure takes you to Kahului for a day of exploration. First stop: Haleakala National Park's summit, where you can observe rare endemic Silversword plants and native Nene geese roaming freely across the volcanic landscape, with panoramic views stretching across Maui's slopes.

Next, discover historic Iao Valley through a short walk past a meandering stream through native Hawaiian plants. The iconic 1,200-foot Iao Needle—a natural outcropping jutting from the mountainside—towers above the emerald valley floor.
